I Love Books

On this page, I’ll list a book once I finish it. This will be a record of my reading habit.

2012

Title: A Bend In The Road

Author: Nicholas Sparks
Date Finished: May-2012
My thoughts:
I don’t like Nicholas Sparks’ writing style, or the storylines, but I still plow through his books. This plotlines in this book is wide open, I don’t like how he actually warns the readers of obstacles the protagonists will encounter, takes away the surprise.

Title: Keeping Faith

Author: Jodi Picoult
Date Finished: Apr-2012
My thoughts: A typical Jodi Picoule book. My review here.

2011

Title: Outliers: The Story of Success
Author: Malcolm Gladwell
Date Finished: Nov-2011Outliers refers to the brightest, most succesful people. It tries to find out if there is a formula to their success, and searches for cultural, historical and familial events that influences their lives. Opened my eyes to see, that even the brightest have to work the hardest and have the luck to achieve success.
Title: Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything (P.S.)Date Finished: Oct-2011

An interesting read, the authors throw interesting theories to explain certain statistics, some not that obvious, like attributing violent crime rate drop in 1990s USA to dropping birth rates, instead of the result of increased law enforcement.

Title: House Rules
Author: Jodi Picoult
Date Finished: Dec-2011This book is about Asperger’s, and how a family copes with a son who has it. The characteristics of a person with Asperger’s are all laid out here. The son gets in trouble with the law due to his fascination with forensics science, and the book turns into a typical courtroom drama Jodi Picoult style.
